Welcome to Paris!

History:

The history of Paris dates back to approximately 259 BC, with the Parisii, a Celtic tribe settled on the banks of the Seine. The city changed its name to Paris during the fourth century. Paris had its time of monarchy with kings such as King Louis XVI, who was later killed with his wife Marie Antoinette in the French Revolution. Urban development took place and during the following seventeen years after the coup d’état that made Napolean the III the emperor in 1851. During WWII Paris was occupied by the Nazis, although the Parisians resisted and freed the capital on 25 August 1944. Today France has a semi-presidential system determined by the French Constitution of the French Fifth Republic.
